César Casado de Santiago, b. Huelva, 1978. Degree in Veterinary Science from the Complutense University of Madrid. He joined the civil service as a veterinary surgeon in 2005, where his first post was Senior Technical Advisor in the Sub-Directorate-General for Border Health Control (Directorate-General for Public Health and Border Health Control; Ministry of Health and Social Policy). He is currently Head of the Residue Management Service on pesticides and veterinary drugs in food (Spanish Agency of Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition [AECOSAN]).

His main task is assessment/management of consumer risk linked to residues in food. He is also the Spanish delegate to the European Commission Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (pesticide residue section), and participates in the Evaluation Committee on Veterinary Drugs at the Spanish Agency for Medicinal and Health Products, the Evaluation Committee on Plant Protection Products (Spanish Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs), and meetings of the Codex Alimentarius Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods.
