Carlos María Lozano Tomàs

Carlos Mª Lozano Tomás has a shorter degree in agricultural engineering, a degree in Food Sciences and Technology from the University of Zaragoza, and a postgraduate degree in Sustainable Plant Protection.

His entire career has been closely involved with crop protection, firstly as a technical advisor for one of the first ATRIA groups (producer groups using integrated pest control in agriculture) in Aragon, and later as a civil servant in the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and the Environment of the Regional Government of Aragon. He is currently Head of the Integrated Pest Management Unit in the Plant Health and Certification Centre.

His work has involved experimental projects aimed at implementing new pest control methods such as mating disruption, mass trapping of adults, and biological control. In recent years he has also taken part in projects to further knowledge of the biology of significant fruit crop pests in the Ebro valley.

He has written numerous publications on various topics related to plant health, and has spoken at conferences, seminars, meetings and courses.

In recent months he has been involved in coordinating the integrated pest management guidelines for pome fruit.
