Andrea Lucchi obtained the PHD in "Bioecology of entomophagous insects and biocontrol in the agro-ecosystems" in 1991 at the University of Perugia (Italy). From 1997 he is assistant professor in Entomology at Pisa University (Italy), where he teaches "Viticultural Entomology" at the Agricultural Dept.

Andrea's research activity has resulted in 182 publications on national and international ISI journals. His recent research interests are focused on: harmfulness and biological control of grapevine pests, pheromone mating disruption, implementation of "Area Wide Pest Management" strategies, Insect vibrational communication with particular reference to grapevine leafhoppers and planthoppers.

Andrea is Deputy Convenor of the IOBC-WPRS Working Group "Integrated Protection in Viticulture" since 2007 and member of the IOBC-WPRS Council since 2009. Since 2014 he is vice-president of IOBC/wprs and member of the Executive Committee.

In 2009, he was invited by USDA-APHIS (US Ministry of Agriculture) to participate in the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the management of the European Grapevine Moth in USA. Since then he attended 5 TWG meetings held in California in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
