Fernando García del Pino

Fernando Garcia del Pino has a degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the same university (1994). He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he studies various aspects of pest management, in particular biological control. His main research areas are: (1) entomopathogenic nematodes: biology, taxonomy and ecology, (2) use of entomopathogenic nematodes in biological control of various insect pests, and (3) urban integrated pest management. He has published numerous research papers in international journals and several books on these topics. He has also given many lectures, courses and seminars on his area of speciality and has frequently participated in national and international scientific conferences on biological control. 
He has led and participated in more than 14 national and international research projects on pest management, with particular emphasis on biological control. Currently, he is leading a national project entitled 'New strategies for biological control of the Curculio species that parasitize hazelnuts and chestnuts using genetically improved entomopathogenic nematodes'.
