Agricultural Engineer from the Polytechnical University of Madrid.

Coordinator of the Resistance Prevention Committee (CPRH) in Spain.

Associate Professor in the School of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Lleida.

He is currently the Head of the Phytosanitary Inspection Practices and Plant Cover Unit at the Ministry of Agriculture’s Plant Health Service.

The aims of this Unit cover phytosanitary checks of conditions and everything related to weed control, including chemical and non-chemical control methods and the prevention of the presence of invasive weeds.

In terms of research, as an associate professor at the University of Lleida, he mainly works on:

  1. The management of populations resistant to corn poppy (Papaver rhoeas L.) and annual rye grass (Lolium rigidum Gaud.) in winter cereal crops. This is his main area of research, where a number of research projects have been implemented in recent years. Chemical control methods, i.e., herbicides, as well as mechanical systems and ones involving crop handling are all used in the management of these resistant populations.
  2. Weed control in winter cereal and fruit crops. The efficacy of different herbicides in weed control and the efficacy of their mechanical control have been proven in this area.
  3. Invasive plants. A work area involving invasive plants in response to the need to eradicate Sicyos angulatus from corn crops in the Lleida farming area and Leptochloa sp from rice fields.
  4. Plant cover on fruit trees. This third area, which is less developed, involves trying different covers from the viewpoint of implementing them in our crop systems.
